April Update: PIFB Charity Work

Hey, everyone! I’ve got a bit of down time before I attend tonight’s Minor League Baseball game at Miller Park, so I figured I’d post an update on our efforts with Pitch In For Baseball.

Together, 12 donors (that number is slowly but surely growing) and I have teamed up to raise money on a per-baseball-caught basis this season. Currently, each baseball I take in at a Major League Baseball game is worth $1.23 towards Pitch In For Baseball, and each game home run I bring home is worth an additional $10.23 each!

As everything sits right now, on April 27, 2012, I’ve ballhawked 29 regular season baseballs at Miller Park.

29
x 1.23
$35.67 on volume of baseballs
+$10.
23 for 1 game home run so far
$45.90 raised for PIFB so far this season!

It breaks down to either 1 fielder’s glove and 1 catcher’s mitt, or 3 fielder’s gloves, or half way to gloving an entire infield! Let’s keep doing great things together this season, and help the kids of PIFB!

And finally, here’s a picture of myself and Jose Altuve’s 3rd career home run, brought home on 4/25/12:

That’s great that we have managed to raise that much money, and this is with me at $.01, right? So that will be even higher once I know how much I can donate.

That’s indeed with you at one cent per baseball. I really appreciate your generosity, Mateo. I understand that for a college kids like us, and anyone in general I supposed, donating to all these different charities can get expensive.

Observing Baseball

I grew up a Yankee fan, I favor Pitchers whenever possible, I am a stathead, and my dream job is to be a GM for an MLB franchise. In the summer, I go to MLB games and catch baseballs. In the winter, I write about what teams are doing to get better or worse. I try to be positive and unbiased in my writing, but that isn't always possible when evaluating teams truthfully.
